I call this project my Art for Art’s Sake book because it was purely fueled by visuals that I just randomly thought of on the spot. This project helped me escape a bit during the first part of covid and a few years later. I treated this comic as a sketchbook and I’d literally draw whatever came to me to fight off the icky feelings I had during lockdown and various other portions of my life when things weren’t so great. In January of 2024, I had about 30 pages done and I said, “I’m gonna finish this thing, man!” And you know what? I DID! I finished this bad boy a few months before Heroes Con and had this sucker sitting on my table! “Manny, what was your process of making this book?” Well, I’m glad you asked… You see, I’d simply pour myself an adult beverage, pull my headphones over my ears, start blasting Mastodon’s Once More ‘Round The Sun album, drift away into this weird fantasy realm, and then proceed to draw my ass off. BOOM!
